The buzzer (or haptic motor) provides tactile feedback for notifications, calls, and UI interactions. A broken buzzer results in no vibration alerts, which causes missed calls and notifications in silent environments. Replacement is a straightforward repair.

What You Will Need

  • Replacement buzzer / vibration motor (model-specific)
  • Precision screwdrivers
  • Plastic pry tools and spudger
  • Tweezers
  • Isopropyl alcohol

Step 1 — Confirm the Buzzer is Faulty

Enable vibration in settings and trigger a test vibration. No response confirms buzzer failure. Also check that vibration is not disabled in the device's sound profile or notification settings before proceeding.

Step 2 — Open the Device

Power off, open the rear panel using heat and plastic pry tools, and disconnect the battery connector from the motherboard.

Step 3 — Locate the Buzzer Motor

The buzzer is a small cylindrical or rectangular component — usually a coin-shaped eccentric rotating mass (ERM) motor or a flat linear resonant actuator (LRA) — located in a dedicated bay within the chassis, often near the centre or base of the phone.

Step 4 — Remove the Old Buzzer

Disconnect the buzzer flex cable from the motherboard. The motor may be secured by a metal clip, adhesive, or simply held in position by the chassis walls. Lift it out carefully to avoid damaging adjacent components.

Step 5 — Install and Test

Seat the new buzzer motor, reconnect the flex cable, and temporarily reassemble enough to power on the device. Trigger a test vibration from Settings before fully sealing. Confirm the vibration pattern feels normal before closing the chassis.
