The mid frame is the structural chassis layer between the screen and rear panel. It contains the button mechanisms, side frame, and mounting points for the motherboard and other components. A bent or cracked mid frame is usually the result of significant physical impact.

Step 1 — Assess Whether Replacement is Warranted
Minor bends in a metal mid frame can sometimes be straightened with careful pressure rather than full replacement. Only proceed with mid frame replacement if the structural damage is severe enough to affect component fit or sealing.
Step 2 — Remove Both Panels
Open both the screen and rear panel. This repair requires accessing the interior from both sides. Disconnect the battery as soon as access allows.
Step 3 — Remove Internal Components from the Mid Frame
Remove the motherboard, battery, cameras, speaker, charging board, and all associated flex cables. Follow the same methodical approach as a rear housing replacement — photograph every stage.
Step 4 — Transfer Components to New Mid Frame
Move all hardware to the new mid frame, maintaining correct screw lengths and cable routing. Pay particular attention to antenna cable paths, which are routed through channels in the mid frame.
Step 5 — Reattach Both Panels
Apply fresh adhesive to both screen and rear panel mounting surfaces. Fit the screen first, confirm it is seated evenly, then fit the rear panel. Power on and test all functions before allowing adhesive to fully cure.
