The front glass (also called the protective glass panel or cover glass) is a clear protective layer that sits in front of the actual LCD/LED display panel. The bezel is the plastic or metal frame that surrounds the screen and holds the front glass in place. Both are primarily cosmetic/protective components but damaged bezels can expose internal components to dust and moisture, while a cracked cover glass can make the screen difficult to view (though the panel underneath may remain functional).
Important distinction: The cover glass is separate from the actual display panel. A cracked cover glass does not necessarily mean the LCD panel is damaged. In some cases, replacing only the cover glass is sufficient and significantly cheaper than a full panel replacement.
