Fuses are the first line of defence in a television's electrical circuit — they are designed to break the circuit and sacrifice themselves when current exceeds a safe level, protecting more expensive downstream components. In TVs, fuses are found on the power supply board (main board fuse), inside the mains inlet section, and sometimes on the backlight driver. A blown fuse is often the first sign of a power surge event. Fuses are among the cheapest TV components to replace but require exact specification matching.
Important: Never replace a fuse with a higher-rated one or bypass it with wire. A fuse rated for your TV's circuit is a safety critical component — using the wrong rating risks fire or permanent damage to expensive boards.
