Main Board (Motherboard / Main Control Board)
The main board (also called the motherboard or main control board) is the brain of the television. It houses the CPU, GPU, and memory, and coordinates every function — processing video signals, running the smart TV operating system, managing HDMI inputs, and driving the audio output. A failed main board can cause a wide range of symptoms: the TV may fail to power on, display a distorted image, lose smart TV functionality, or show an unresponsive menu.
Why main boards fail: Kenya's inconsistent power supply is a leading cause — voltage spikes and surges destroy sensitive ICs on the main board. This is why surge protectors are strongly recommended for all TVs in Nairobi. Main board replacement is a mid-range repair — cheaper than a screen but more involved than a backlight or T-Con swap.
