Metal shielding covers (also called EMI shields or RF shields) are pressed metal enclosures fitted over sensitive circuit sections on the main board and tuner board to prevent electromagnetic interference (EMI) from corrupting signal processing. They are not components that typically fail but may be damaged during a poorly executed repair, physically bent, or lost during disassembly. Missing or damaged shields can lead to picture noise, interference, or RF reception problems.
